Australians making waves on Netflix

Netflix has issued some fascinating viewership stats of late, and how they’ve arrived at these figures has been a topic of contentious debate. However it doesn’t take a data scientist to reveal that streaming widens the funnel of content needed for consumption. Our Australian acting talent realises this also, so for those considering, or already in the US, Netflix is a boon for work.

So who are burning it up on the platform? Here’s 3 to familarise yourself with.

1. KATHERINE LANGFORD, 13 Reasons Why

At only 23, Katherine has achieved remarkable success early – the Perth-born actress already has a Golden Globe nomination under her belt for the Netflix series. The next time you’ll see her on the big screen will be AVENGERS: ENDGAME, due out April 2019.

2. BEN LAWSON, Designated Survivor

Ben plays British spy Damian Rennett who you’re not entirely sure who’s side he’s on. If you’re still after all this time missing THE WEST WING, this Keifer Sutherland-led drama might bridge the gap. Throw in a lot of espionage, double cross and vistas of the Oval Office and the Residence, Designated Survivor has thankfully been greenlit for a third season. See this Brisbane-born actor up next in a film about media boss, Lachlan Murdoch, title unknown.

3. DAMON HERRIMAN, Mindhunter, season 2

Looking at his filmography, you’ll be surprised where you’ve seen Damon’s face – BOY ERASED, THE WATER DIVINER, MR IN-BETWEEN, TOP OF THE LAKE, and more. Damon, hailing from Adelaide, will be up next in the Netflix season two of MINDHUNTER. He’s also just finished filming Quentin Tarantino’s next flick, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. Damon plays the role of Charles Manson.

Have you seen any other Antipodean faces on screen? Let us know 🙂
